OO.STUDIO / INTERNAL PROJECT

An old favourite.
A whole new world.

Fliptide · A game by oo.studio

A great game doesn’t need to be new to feel new. At oo.studio, I took Reversi, a board game with roots in the 1800s, and made Fliptide: a calm, colourful game with worlds to explore, a little strategy and plenty of “one more go”.

01 / THE IDEA

Simple to learn.
Something to come back to.

Place a piece so it traps a line of your opponent’s pieces between two of yours. They flip to your colour. When neither player can move, the most pieces wins. That simple idea has kept Reversi interesting for generations.

Fliptide gives it a fresh setting: shaped boards, four computer difficulties, daily puzzles and two-player games on one device. It’s something to pick up for a quiet moment, or pass across the table.

02 / WORLDS TO EXPLORE

Every flip.
A different feeling.

Each world has its own pieces, scene, sounds and gentle music. Different settings give a familiar game new places to go. Here are a few of them.

  • 01

    The Garden

Flowers, warm light and music-box notes. A welcoming place to learn the first moves.

  • 02

    Neon City

Magenta and cyan tiles, electric flips and a soft synthwave soundtrack.

  • 03

    Under the Sea

Shells, sea urchins and bubbles, with shaped boards to explore beneath the surface.

  • 04

    Outer Space

Planets turn from night to day as each move sweeps across a world of stars.

03 / THE DETAILS

Made for a little
breathing room.

  1. 01

    Let people find their pace.

Short, visual instructions introduce the rules. Four computer difficulties, Quick Play and pass-and-play give beginners and returning players a way in.

  2. 02

Make the small things feel good.

The pieces, flipping animations and sound change with each world. Colour-blind marks, reduced motion and controls for music, sound and haptics let people shape the experience.

  3. 03

Keep the focus on the game.

No ads, no chat and no subscriptions. A daily puzzle offers another reason to play, without streaks or penalties for missing a day.

04 / PLAY NOW. MORE TO COME.

A little strategy.
A world of colour.
