The next good feed might be just around the corner. I designed and built VanEats to give Canberra’s food trucks a home online, and hungry locals a welcoming place to start exploring.

01 / THE IDEA

A little closer
to your next favourite.

Food trucks move. Menus change. The good spot you found last weekend might be somewhere new today. VanEats starts with a simple idea: make local food easier to discover, and give the people serving it a place to be found.

Built around Canberra, the platform brings three journeys together: finding a feed, running a food truck and bringing good food to a gathering. Each starts with a clear next step.

02 / THE DESIGN

An appetite for
the great outdoors.

A big lakeside image sets the scene. Deep green, soft cream and peach accents carry the warmth through the rest of the experience, with generous type and small details that feel at home in Canberra.

The homepage makes room for both sides of the counter. Locals can head straight to food discovery, while truck owners have their own invitation to join. Cuisine links, friendly language and clear navigation keep the experience approachable.

03 / THE EXPERIENCE

Find a feed.
Make a connection.

  1. 01

    Start with what you’re craving.

The discovery interface brings search, cuisine choices, suburb filters and list or map views together. The design considers the outing as well as the food, with space for location facilities and saved favourites.

  2. 02

    Give every truck a home.

The owner journey is designed around everyday essentials: a truck profile, a current menu, trading stops and a quick check-in. A dedicated introduction makes the Canberra pilot easy to understand before owners join.

  3. 03

Bring good food to the gathering.

An event enquiry journey connects organisers with food truck owners. It makes room for practical details such as the location, facilities and expected crowd, with booking arrangements agreed directly between the people involved.

04 / THE RESULT

Made for Canberra.
Ready for little discoveries.

VanEats brings a warm public website and a practical food discovery concept into one product. The Canberra pilot gives it a local starting point, with room to grow around the people using it.

From the first lakeside scene to the owner’s welcome, the design keeps the same purpose in view: help good food and good people find each other.
